Possibly Tang dynasty in the 9th, but yes, you're right of course. We usually define it as around CE500 to CE1500.

Scheduling aside (and while this definitely has no baring on how other people run their games) I definitely tend to ascribe D&D games a more early renaissance time period than medieval. But this has been an interesting topic regardless

It's a system not really built towards set up and combat like that.

Tbf if I was doing a pike and shot era campaign and wanted to keep using DnD, the first thing I'd homebrew is each round is 12 seconds

The thing is gunpowder is too lethal historically. But it makes the game unfun since guns are just better TM.
