I know like a lot of country music and at the same time there is a lot of country music that I do like. I like this! I like this sound. It's easy on the soul.
lol, not that I’m aware of… but it was sang to me a lot when I was a little girl!
And funny, two of my sisters also have songs with their name — Paula (Hey, Hey Paula) and Sarah got two bangers from Hall and Oates and Starship! Peak 80s!!
I will forever hear my dad’s voice humming/singing along to I Believe in You and Lord I hope this Day is Good. They both get me in the feels every time.
That sound *is* country. And Don Williams was one of the best. First working band I was in covered this one and many others like it. Almost 50 years ago.
I should’ve added: That sound is the phase shifter pedal in the guy’s Strat; not a steel guitar. At the time Waylon Jennings had that sound and spread. I’m sure it irked some folks then like the “country” I hear now does me. Each to their own.

Thanks for posting this. Don Williams’ artistry is amazing and not to be missed.
Were you named after this song? 😆
If I had named my kid she might have been named Maggie after Maggie May. 😂

Livin' on Tulsa time...
And nothing thrills like a slide guitar…..
