At least in this case it's probably partially NPR Brain: believing that the more perspectives you uncritically present, crackpot or not, the better the piece of journalism
Imo it’s fine to interview opponents of rezoning. It’s obvious, however, that these interviews were coordinated by preservation coalitions.
In that case, editor should be asking reporter why rezoning supporters or a service worker commuting from Hayward to UCSF Parnassus campus wasn’t interviewed.
