Well, that’s less bad for size and fior hazard, and ideally EV and cheap also.
But that’s linear scaling (4x) when people scale by area (x^2), then time height (which can be a lot).
Feet scale well by area, and very little space. Bikes do pretty well.
Trains are linear also, but huge capacity.

NYC has a particularly horrible car culture in my experience, and I am excited for any intervention that redistributes space and funding to transit. Sorry it doesn't work for you, but I'm hoping it is just the start.
