New and old Episodes will come to Netflix worldwide.
New Episodes are also coming to PBS and on PBS Kids on the same day.
Netflix also got the rights for videogame adaptation of “Sesame Street” and “Sesame Street Mecha Builders.”
Can't wait for them to start teaching kids that greed is human nature and that the only way to combat it is to unleash the power of a fully deregulated market.
“new episodes will also release the same day on both PBS stations and on PBS Kids.”
This is actually a better deal than the one they had with HBO, where new episodes aired weeks later on PBS. Probably using it to private funds to be less reliant on public funding, but still able to operate.
Sesame Street started as great free children's educational programing funded by the public for the public. So it makes sense to charge people money for it. Now, it is a profit making venture delivering the message that Netflix chooses... great.
100% I am just lamenting the loss of it being a public institution. Netflix will likely cancel it soon, that seem like their M.O. these days. They may do a great job and keep it forever. I don't know, I'm just tired of seeing our government sold off to private interests.
My thinking is that it going to Netflix of all places will give it the leeway to become a public program again once this absurdity is over. Not that it's lost, but that it's found a shelter to survive the next 2-4 years before it's safe to come out again.
Are they going to start offering a free service for kids programming like Sesame Street so kids from all backgrounds can still access it? If not then this is deeply sad. They are destroying everything.

Without this deal, Sesame Street wouldn't exist at all anymore. Killed by the anti-woke agenda.
The fact it's dropping on PBS helps a lot.
