I would agree but the ship has sailed. People will call it JRPG because it reminds them of JRPGs.
I wouldn't call Metroidvanias Metroidvanias but nobody calls them Search Action games and explaining it is far more complicated (and annoying) so I just run with Metroidvania.

And my take on genre is that we don't need them. Gaming diversified and inspired itself so much over the last 20 years that most games are just a giant clusterfuck of inspiration and takes on genres. So in my eyes we should just use them as a recommendation tool
