The main advantage of Linux is the fact that it doesn't suck ass. Windows is still more user friendly though (though Microsoft keeps working hard on making it more and more difficult to use).

I'd rather spend 5 hours figuring out how to do a particular task on Linux that would take 2 minutes on windows. I usually end up learning something new about how my computer works which is a huge dopamine kick but I recognize it's not something most people want to deal with.

Use Windows at work. Used Linux for a number of years at home because had a shitty laptop that was unusable with Windows. Really liked it but when M2 MacBook Air came out I switched.

I use a Mac for work, and it's...fine. I would never pay the prices Apple charges for their damn hardware, and I can't do any of the recreational stuff I use my computer for on it, but it's not a terrible pain in the ass.

Rather than replace my Windows 10 box, I'm considering trying Linux again.

Same, although I'd much rather coach my non-technical policy-wonk co-workers on using Windows on the desktop over Linux. Even though I run Linux 99.44% of the time.

Oh yeah. I literally looked at the engineers and said, give me options to select, do not make me fucking type command line prompts to run production scripts on these Linux machines. Flat refused to do the shit until they did that for me. 🤣🤣🤣

I wrote little scripts to turn long commands into very short commands. q would source the environment and fire up Qt. p without a parameter would run. "p c" would run but also compile first etc.

I like command line mostly, but I grew up with it. Just missed the punchcard era, thank goodness!

I did freak my kids out when they saw an open Linux terminal and me plopping in commands. Sorta like when I set up a rotary phone in the kitchen.

Every time that I need to touch Windows 10/11, I don't stop of saying profanities.
I have been using Windows since 3.1 , and I find Window 10/11 very intrusive and not user friendly.

I don't think it sucks but it definitely isn't as good as linux for those that understand how to use it. That being said, things run easily on windows and the barrier to entry is low. Linux for the techies, windows for the average, no one should be touching a mac, they are scam products for fashion.
