George W. Bush was the worst President of the last few generations and it's really not close. what we in the US are (rightly!) up in arms about is that Trump is the worst President for us, specifically - which is a different thing

Body count for Bush II is... let's call it 5M dead and 40M displaced, over 25 years.

With USAID gone, and now it being impossible for developing nations to buy our meds, Trump II might hit that death count by the end of this term.

And that's not factoring in that under Trump I (and helped by Biden) we basically got rid of the IDEA of public health. The whole "the government should do some basic stuff to keep people from getting sick and dying" thing is just over. We don't do that anymore. Other nations WILL follow.

I'm not saying Bush II is something we should look back on fondly. He was a monster and should in several different parts of the Hague at once.

But all the awful stuff he built is now in the hands of someone who, and I'm not being hyperbolic here, seems to fucking hate us for rejecting him in 2020.

Olúfẹ́mi is a pretty smart guy and great jazz musician. I understand his reasoning here (the GWOT is a giant and ongoing humanitarian disaster), I just think the groundwork that has been laid in just the last few months is going to dwarf it in human costs over the next century.
