Prior to its creation, as many as three-quarters of Americans lived in poverty.
Today, that number is about 10%.

So why do so many working people vote for them?
It's critical, but it's in trouble
With fewer workers per retiree (aka the dependency ratio), we need to lift the artificial cap on contributions NOW so it will be available to people later
It.
Is.
Our.
Money.
But living in poverty describes about 40% of current US households

Instead of "x people will lose healthcare coverage", try this:
“A healthier America is a more productive America. Access to affordable care reduces medical bankruptcies, improves worker productivity, and keeps small businesses competitive.”
Our: belonging to or associated with the speaker and one or more other people previously mentioned or easily identified.
Ours. Not government shitbags identified by their MAGA pointy white racist hats and face masks. Fucking scared cowards.
even Republican Congress is divided on it
Dems have been fighting in Congress
GOP would love folks to fight Dems instead
we can all agree
those with too much should help
and those with less can be helped
But it's made a huge, huge difference, no question about that. Social Security is invaluable, even at its current insufficient levels. Far better to have that than not have it!
