“Walk when the Moon is full,” advised Frances Hamerstrom, and so I did—view of the Colorado downstream of downtown Austin, 5 a.m. this morning (no flashlight needed)

That’s amazing. I first learned of her work when my mom sent me her Wild Food Cookbook, and I was really taken by her introduction and story of learning ways to live off the land from rural Wisconsin neighbors who had survived the Depression: https://books.google.com/books/about/Wild_Food_Cookbook.html?id=8eLBjgEACAAJ
During the evening twilight when the Moon is full, the cool air is still, and the pond is like a mirror. You hear the haunting calls of the Common Loon, you stop, and you listen. A chill moves through your body as you get a shiver. The tapestry of the sunset slowly gives way to night.
