Not that anyone needs my thoughts, but I have them sooo…when you’re autistic vibes are harder to ignore and etc. etc. everyone knows all this stuff. We’re likely to say something though. But everyone else isn’t blind, they’re not stupid. But the person’s popular, and nobody wants to say owt.
But it’s just vibes so whatever. So you say something and they come at you like “WE KNOW (subconsciously) SHUT UP!” That’s how I rationalise it anyway. Nobody sees Palmer’s carryon and really thinks that’s ok and normal. Nah. Come on.
Like how does anyone be that much of a chancer without any charm at all? She even got round the bullshit alarm of literally many Irish women I know. It’s typical psychopath stuff, she just does it so hard it jams their warning systems.
a lot of it comes down to entrenching themselves in the identities of disenfranchised & mistreated. Palmer made her whole career out of being a woman's woman feminist whatever. She also made her career blurring the lines between her fans and people with immediate access to her.
I think about this a lot with con-ppl. When Elizabeth Holmes's star was rising, even as a teen I remember being really put off by her performance. But she wasn't performing for me, she was performing for tech bros&billionaires.
anyone can trick u if they hit u w/ what you need to hear at that moment
And a lot of her later career out of being Gaiman’s wife. Her messages starting with “Hi, I’m Amanda Palmer, Neil Gaiman’s wife” alway always irked me for some reason.
Doesn’t really seem fair to compare Whedon to something this horrific, wasn’t Whedon mostly just a bully to actors and cheating on his wife but didn’t actually assault anyone?
A: There’s a threshold of acceptability in terms of being a shit, and both fall far beneath it. One, further, but ultimately they are both examples of patriarchal corruption. I’m not going to do the mathematics of indecency here. B: The comparison was of fandoms, nobody compared Wheedon to Gaiman.
