sometimes i think back to working in the NOC & whenever tech executives came by the office we’d have to remove our actually useful monitoring stuff & put up really flashy bullshit on the big screens instead to impress them. anyway that’s all u really have 2 know about corporate tech in the US

We do product security audits, we have less ability to deal with network attacks than our IT support...
we had the SHOW NOC and the "GO NOC" - connected - 10 minutes warning to staff the SHOW for visitors - put on shoes, etc.

Sometimes what they see as important at their level isn't the same as what the folks doing the work need to see to do their jobs.
Being able to show both as necessary is good.

It was a multi-level affair; with an arc of normal workstations up top, a "commander's chair" flanked by a couple MWE workstations on the lower level, and some big projector screens for the pew-pew maps up front. Straight TNG bridge rip off
