My friend drew an art piece with a lot of red (dramatic and a lot of tension) and the way Instagram put that thing in an air fryer, it was so crispy, could've probably counted the pixels
had an art director laugh at me once for implying that the color has any effect on how bad/well something compresses but red LITERALLY always takes the biggest hits. i don't understand the science but TRUST ME I use enough red to know
If you're talking about JPG compression, yeah. I assume it was only because I can see red really well, but now that I'm looking at the picture showing jpg compression in the wiki, it definitely disfavors warm colors https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/JPEG
Also one of the WORST colors to try to print next to purple. And red merch is the worst to try to photograph because if I change camera angle by 1 degree suddenly it's a whole new shade of red.
how can anybody with eyes try and argue that red is not the worst offender in jpg artifacting?? that shit has been common knowledge for at -least- 20 years
lmao i literally have this image from 2007 i made to show my friends why jpg sucks and i used red specifically bc it would highlight it best
