Like an image on a screen or photo, it makes perfect sense in the big picture from a distance, but up close the thing no longer exists. 'Reality' itself seems to work like this, which does indeed point to another layer, just as there is something behind the pixels or dots in an image.
When we really dig down deeply into anything at all, even maths... it all falls apart under intense scrutiny. The entirety of all we know, always seems to be extremely reliable on the large scale, and practically non existent on the small scale.
