Re-defining “empathy” as “emotional manipulation” (or vice-versa) is emotionally manipulative.

Plainly: There's no go-to "empathy is good" book to counter these "empathy is bad" books.
@mflack.bsky.social brought up a salient point that maybe the true effective response here is to practice empathy and service. Seems it's Jesus' advice too. "By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."
