I keep wondering if Republican women understand that they're included under the Conservative definition of "DEI".. I want to ask them if they couldn't find any white men to fill their jobs.
There are no Republican women House Committee chairs, first time in a decade there haven't been any.
I say so to MAGA women who bring it up (often in my red town). They're dumbfounded and dumbstruck when I say, "You're DEI" or "Have a job? DEI hire." Young women don't remember when we couldn't get our own credit cards and men could lock us up in psych ward if uppity. That's what MAGA want "again."
Who gqp also hates. Unless they are making them sandwiches and popping out white babies. Even then, they hate them. Or are scared of them. Though gqo white women are so incredibly groomed to believe they are good for only 1 thing. There's nothing for mediocre gqp men to be scared of. They just are.
I was bypassed for promotions in the 1980’s and 1990’s for white women who weren’t nearly as experienced and qualified. Because IT was predominantly white male and was trying to get more diverse.
"what, so you think having women in the board room and c-suite will lead to better conditions for working women? I'm sure you also think engaging with women to find out their needs and concerns will help."
As a public school teacher, we tried to put DEI into practice as well as teach our students the concept. MAGA would be the 1st to yell if little Duke was bullied for his lisp or Crystal was shunned because of her Dyslexia.
We always need to consider intersectionality—which white women? Poor? Rural? Disabled? Young? Old? Which Black people? Men? Children? Educated? Gay? Etc., otherwise we’re ignoring people who deserve to be considered and that’s what leads to false assumptions and failed policies.
I agree with that, but I want to emphasize that in capitalist corporate America, the prevailing winds of the country will have the most weight, for many rational reasons. So getting the Dominant Culture to want DEI is an important piece of making them actually hire using fairness to minorities.
We taught our daughter, if it were asking another human to help during an alien invasion, would you ask them? If so, the prejudice is irrational. MAGA has turned that on its head. If certain aliens arrived, offering to help give MAGA a crushing defeat, it seems tempting to side with the aliens!
Everybody says they favor diversity and inclusion, and most people say they favor equity, but when you put them together and call them DEI suddenly people hate all three.
Kind of like referring to the Affordable Care Act as Obamacare. People like the ACA but they’ve been trained not to like anything associated with Obama.
What we should do is tell white guys that we will introduce a new DEI initiative that guarantees they get a portion of the jobs equal to their percentage of the general populace.
I don’t. Because I’m not an uneducated fool. Trump is a divider. He pretends white people are getting screwed by everyone else. That divides us, and it isn’t even true.
The solution lies not in selection by skin color, gender, sexual preference or otherwise. The solution lies within relative unity. Now I could go deep into this subject, but the overall picture should be clear enough.
Corollary: Unify, don't divide. Look into their eyes and see.
I am a white woman and was the first female police officer in my department. And I was a DEI hire.
While I was #1 on the hiring list, they could have chosen anyone in the top 10. They could have passed me over.
They wanted to look "progressive."
It was all about projecting an image. Early 90's.
I worked with a bunch of idiots.
About 30% were great. The rest cheated on their wives, purchased really expensive weapons & hid them from their wives at work and many of them abused their power. In small ways and big ways.
The thin blue line is about covering for your friends.
"According to another McKinsey study, white women hold nearly 19% of all C-suite positions, while racial and ethnic minority women only hold 4%. Overall, white women have benefited disproportionally from corporate DEI efforts."
Unless you’re of pure blood (whatever that means), fit (according to whom), mostly “like” them (now we’re getting it), one will never be accepted or qualify. Forget color, gender or someone with disability. Not happening. The opposition towards DEI is in fact, yet another admission.
Before DEI became a thing, did anyone even know what it was? When people applied for jobs did they ask at the time if that employer used DEI for hiring? Ass dems we need to learrn how to frame their projects into disasters.
Clarence Thomas voting against affirmative action, despite benefiting from it, isn’t just hypocritical—it’s a perfect reflection of the DEI backlash. To him and his allies, denying others opportunity is worth the cost, as long as they believe the “right” people are kept in their place.
Yes, and just like racism doesn’t only hurt Black people, it harms many white people too. But for racists, that’s a price they’re willing to pay. Republicans, as often as not, agree with racists that in cases like this, as long as the “right” people get what they “deserve,” it’s worth the cost.

Republicans hate women!!
I watched men get hired that did not have near my expertise get paid twice as much as I did.
It goes both ways.
In other words, they get 25% of jobs.

"Bring back glass ceilings that really work."
This is what's going on with anti-DEI, folks. 🙁
