America was not founded as a Christian nation. If anything, it was founded to be against organized religion. We added "Under God" to money and The Pledge in the fifties as a part of ultra conservatives being given too much power.
It's more deeply troubling that a certain sect of "christians" is deluded to the extent that they think they deserve democracy to be trashed to make room for their theocracy. Wish these idiots were smart enough to read the Constitution and even question their fantasies.
I wish they would also read the New Testament. They might begin with Matthew and find out their political policies are utterly opposed to the red words.
Even I, a relative unknown person who is skeptical of all religions, understands that (a) we are not a christian nation, and (b) this person isn't a muslim...
Muhammad is a prophet in the Muslim faith. They also believe Jesus is prophet. While it maybe true that some Muslims worship Muhammad as a divine being, that is no different than xtians worshiping Jesus in the same manner.
I mean we have Americans who worship Trump as a god FFS.
Jesus talked about care, loving healing, the sick …..Muslims forced their enemies into sex slavery for women and children. And kill the men….Fucking disgusting.
Indeed it is....so was the Xtian use of the Bible to justify slavery in the US. Not to mention the minimization and dismissal by white and xtian nationalists today of slavery. Evangelical xtians have allied themselves with Trump's fascism.
They don't believe in separation of church and state, so long as it's the "right" religion. I agree there should be no prayers in legislative sessions.
Maybe we shouldn’t have a prayer for any religion then.
Matthew 6:5
“And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.”
A deeply troubling matter that seems to have slipped by the press, in addition to the blatant Christian Nationalist discrimination and ignorance of our Republican Representative, is that the US was not founded as a Christian nation. Read history books, don't make s*** up.
You are incorrect. America was not founded as a christian nation. Please review relevant historical documents. Please stop being evil in the name of Jesus.
Everyone that isn't white is suspect for MAGA Christians. They enjoy using the label "communist" to describe anyone to their left and if you aren't a MAGA Christian then maybe you are a Muslim. They don't care about facts. They want to hate. Hate is now a Christian virtue.
Not Muslim. Sikh, I think? Not as educated on world religions as I should be, but the head covering is not something I'd associate with Muslim practice.
"...was founded as a Christian nation"
No, it really wasn't.
This is really pathetic that they think any country founded with Christian is a Christian nation. Wait, scratch that, they don't really believe it, but they think we would if they repeat it enough.
There should be no 'organized' prayers in government. NONE.
If a group of congresspersons wants to meet in an office to pray before session, or privately pray. But religion and government should not be systemic bedfellows.
It has never been a Christian nation, definitely not when it was founded. The separation of church and state was clear until relatively recently in the nation's history. Things like adding "under God" to the pledge and "in God we trust" to currency didn't happen until the mid 1900s.
Just looked – she represents a sickeningly gerrymandered district east and north of St. Louis that’s clearly designed to include every Nazi farmer in the region and exclude every possible Democrat! Very much like Gym Jordan’s Ohio district!

Plenty of religious hypocrisy to go around.

Where is it? A little help, please.
And many believe the "Christian" Crusades are viewed as "violent" and destructive acts of warfare!
