She built all this with no money while working full time as a waitress.....of course fucking not.
Nepo baby had everything she needed to play the game with no struggle.
I remember reading a feature by Prince Michael of Kent's daughter saying how her uni pals were turning their backs on traditional careers to do things like making handbags and importing ham.
Everyone deserves the freedom having a financial safety net affords. It means you get to try out different jobs and careers and find the one that best suits your talent and passion.
On a similar note, there's a reason the vast majority of successful actors come from affluent backgrounds. Many pop musical acts, as well.
Legendary producer Kim Fowley told me his formula was to find a band whose parents were willing to pay him 50 grand, bring 'em to LA, record some tracks...
... and play a pay-to-play showcase at the Starwood. If the band was the 1 out of 100 that made it, great. If not, Kim still got paid.
He had a network of guys like me on the lookout for good bands with wealthy parents. He'd call me every morning and open with "How can you make me money today?"
For those unfamiliar with Kim Fowley, he produced countless hits. His resume was a 4-page-long list of his hits, single spaced. From the 60's through 2k's, Zappa to The Runaways, there weren't many acts that Kim didn't touch in some way.
I remember one actor who had famous parents saying that your name got your foot in the door, but you then had to work harder than other people to prove yourself.
They are so out of touch. 🙄 It’s more honest to embrace your nepo baby privilege, and be grateful. Being well capitalized, and not worrying about fundraising or paying back a loan allows huge risky moves, that wouldn’t be possible otherwise, often leading to big success.
it must be very liberating knowing that it doesn't really matter if your business venture works or goes tits up because you have the safety net of your parents. The worst you'll get is a tut and a grumble, rather than say losing your house.
I looked at starting a small company many years ago. I did a budget & cash flow analysis. The cash flow was 100k in the hole at 1 point (in a successful year). That assumed clients paid reasonably promptly too. I’d have had to sign my house up & could have lost it over one job. I didn’t do it…
There's a certain amount of risk tolerance and insider knowledge that comes with generational wealth and achievement.
It's sort of like being first gen college or 10th gen college. The 10th gen kid knows what to expect and who to ask and their success is mostly a given.
Yup - Ella got to the top via hard work, grit and an indefatigable spirit.
Nothing to do with the fact that she went to one of the best public schools in England, & the same university as the future King of the United Kingdom of GB & Northern Ireland.
