Key word “join”. I kind of misread it at first & thought he meant just being in those movies. Definitely think him appearing ‘could’ work; tricky part is how they would write it in a way that makes sense while not distracting from the story/movie itself bc Deadpool is such an overwhelming presence.

No, it's because the X-Men believe in intersectionality and don't care whether Wade's abilities manifested naturally or not. To them, he is a mutant regardless of that. By your logic, lots of X-Men characters are "not mutants" -- like the only reason Beast is covered in fur is because of the serum

To my knowledge; Deadpool is a mutant with enhanced human reflexes and agility. His mutant powers were dormant until he went into the Weapon X Project.

The last Deadpool movie should have the X-Men and Avengers show up for the climax and declare Wade an official member before he wakes up from being knocked out by the antagonist for a moment.

Then right before the credit, the X-men and Avenger REALLY DO show up and say they are forming a joint team with Wade as the leader called “X-Vengers.”

Then Deadpool just yells “God damn it! Now we gotta reset the timeline. Well it’s been fun, thanks for watching. It’s over now.”

I would have said the same about Deadpool teaming with Wolverine after Logan.

It all comes down to script and execution. I trust Ryan Reynolds at this point with whatever he decides to do.
