In She-Hulk, it was out of nowhere and just added to the list of all the already unfunny jokes throughout the show. Here, it's a nod to an actual meme within the community, and at a time when the memes aren't incredibly stale.
The key is timing, and being able to read the room.
She was in the scene with Meg the stallion,a guest star…who’s known for and great at twerking…so “out of nowhere” is nuts. Maybe you weren’t the target audience?
No one was making any kind of jokes about She-Hulk's ass or anything. No one was making memes of her twerking. But for whatever reason, a ton of shows seemed to think it was still the early 2010s or something where everyone thought twerking was funny. It's like saying "how do you do fellow kids".
Meg’s not here to speak for herself, but I assume she doesn’t twerk for laughs or jokes…she has fun. They were just having fun doing what Meg does…but okay I’ll let you have it. Happy Friday!
Meanwhile, Venom's extremely caked-up ass has been the literal butt of people's jokes since the game launched, and it's only been a few months. The meme wasn't exactly fresh off the forums, but it's still rent free in people's heads. The emote was just icing on the cake.
How badly did She Hulk hurt you? “Out of nowhere” when the guest was Megan Thee Stallion who besides her music is known for twerking as well. But Venom who doesn’t twerk in the comics or movies makes sense twerking here
If you didn't find She-Hulk funny before this moment (which again isn't supposed to be a meme or funny), then I think you came into the show already wanting to not like it
What's that supposed to mean? Even if it was meant to be something more gritty like Daredevil, that doesn't mean it can't have jokes. Comic relief can exist in any genre.
And you say that like I haven't considered it. I've seen plenty of clips of the show to know I just wouldn't like it. You...
And btw, I'm not at all disinterested in having She-Hulk appear on screen. From what I've heard from people who have read the comics, she's an interesting character that could have easily fit into the MCU if it was adapted better, but like a lot of recent Marvel media, it was just badly executed.
