It probably will tbch. This movie was more marketed to kids (who will beg there parents to see a Minecraft movie) while Sonic was marketed towards young adults/people that grew up with it.

The bulk of kids who enjoy Minecraft also enjoy it through content creators.

The reach and amount of people who enjoy a game vicariously through a creator is massive.

Hell I don't play Minecraft, but when one of my favorite variety streamer plays it, I'll watch and enjoy it.

The movie is just a series of events that are largely disconnected happening one after another. Sometimes, said events contradict eachother - like Steve saying the villagers are all vegetarian, then taking the group to a literal broiled chicken store in said village.

Heck no, my mother took me to watch the likes of Spiderman and MIB 2 when I was 5, we always watched the good movies together on theater, the only "slop" was the Jimmy Neutron movie and even that my mom ejoyed because the whole theater was rolling on the floor with the jokes there.

My husband and I went last night and the energy of the people (most under 20) was amazing! A full theater, the concession line was out the door. It was a true movie experience. At some parts everyone was cheering, clapping and having fun. I haven't had that much fun at the movies in a long time.
