Making trailers is an art form. Many run way too long and show way too much. Some are a summary of the entire movie. Personally, I like it when movies actually edit some parts to not spoil anything. - ThreadSky

Then you have trailers that totally mislead you into thinking the plot is completely different! I went into Brave thinking she killed a bear and is going to raise 3 bear cubs.

I had a few friends who worked on Iron Giant. They were SO UPSET when the studio's marketing department put the "You can fly!" scene and dialog right into the trailer, when that was supposed to be a big final act reveal. 🙄😤

And then you have movies that actively edit their trailers. One of the Batman (dark knight?) movies showed the lady's gravestone, but they changed the name on it to say Bruce Wayne instead.

One of my favorite trailers was for STAR TREK V: THE FINAL FRONTIER — a *great* trailer that got me excited to see a truly awful movie

I went back and watched the trailer after I saw the movie, and it was still so good it made me wish whoever cut it had edited the movie

One of the best trailers that I recall was for Godzilla 2014. There was also a short teaser with Oppenheimer's voice talking over it, that I also really liked.

Disney trailers tend to make you think it’s an entirely different movie. They completely change the style.
