There is no correlation between unemployment/wages & trade deficits. Tariffs are a regressive tax that does not result in more jobs, but in the lower/middle class paying a greater % of taxes and the wealthy paying less and isolates the U.S. economically and politically from the rest of the world

Unlike Trump, I don't believe that tariffs are beautiful and beneficial economic tools. When applied narrowly to provide important industries a period to revitalize their operations so that they can better compete, tariffs can occasionally be useful. But Trump's tariffs aren't narrowly focused. 1/x
