People should just admit that they're pro war, no need to do tortured "if I were a pansexual disabled autistic Palestinian woman from Jabalia I would support the entire Gaza Strip being eradicated" bit. Nobody actually believes this shit.

Can you imagine being some shitty guy, and you really get sexually excited by violence, but you can't admit this to yourself because you think you're a good person, so you come up with this rationalization that, hey, they have a bad government so maybe they deserve to die in abject terror
this plays well to an audience of primarily clueless people; it's just a way of saying that you're pro war but culturally left. other people who also are will go with it
there's not a single gay woman in the US who would support mexico indiscriminately bombing texas neighborhoods with bunker busters because greg abbott is a piece of shit lol. this is just another variation of americans lying because they know they aren't subject to the rules.
the imperial boomerang just tried to hit LA like last week, and these clowns still can't piece together that we ARE going to be subject to the same rules, those of us who aren't already
And yet there are a disturbing number of Americans who'll openly say "I want everyone in the state next door to suffer and even die because the Republicans got 51% of the vote last election".
I hate that shit. I always push back against “let them secede” bullshit. We don’t abandon entire populations because gerrymandering and corruption has enabled a marginal majority vote to keep corrupt leadership.
For me it’s less let them secede and more the thought that we are heading to a breakup of the union. California and Texas could splinter off, Alaska and north eastern states might ask to join Canada while New Mexico joins Mexico Hawaii might go independent again or join a pacific country
It’s not like there isn’t precedent, even just looking at Germany, Korea, and Vietnam and we are physically a very large not especially cohesive country
No. We don’t abandon all the decent people of a state (or nation) because of corrupt leadership. Gerrymandering, voter suppression, and a marginal majority win for corruption is not proof that everyone is unworthy.
You assume texas is has a fair amount of decent people. Out of the non queer texans I've met I would say that is incredibly far from the truth. I have never met a truly non bigoted straight texan. Every one I've met is a homophobe. So no I don't view a place infested with bigots as very salvagible
Everyone is subject to cause and effect. To avoid bad results, we must all act wisely and without procrastination. The whole world should agree to give up nukes now and pursue clean, renewable energy with all haste. Then we'd need no global policemen protecting the price and supply of oil & gas.
The irony being most trans & queer people I know are pro-Palestine yet cis and straight people foam at the mouth at us about how bad Palestinians hate us. I’m like bro, YOU hate us! We don’t need to bother oppressed people and ask their opinion on our rights — your bigotry make us miserable enough!
People trying to convince us that we need to give up our rights, piece by piece, in order to appeal to Nazis so that a specific team of fascists can win elections, and pretending to be our champions in the same breath.
If there's one thing Americans like more than anything else, in aggregate, it's insisting someone else can take the consequences for their own actions and they're the One Special Case to bypass any consequence
I say this as an American who has gotten into pitched fights with relatives when it comes to "No, I'm going to take the consequences for my mistake, I'm not going to put myself through the third degree to try to make myself look innocent, that's bullshit"
It is ridiculous… but how things have gotten… I know some people (not pointing at you) online are possibly ridiculous in unsafe ways, so I like to push reality back a bit into ridiculous scenarios however innocently intended as grim humor.
Yeah, that sort of shit is an automatic block from me. Just tell people you're a racist POS who cares fuck-all about the queer people who are actually being bombed
I was in my early 20s when I left the military for college. I remember talking with a college peer, a very out a loud evangelical Christian, about Israel. I don't remember why we were on the subject, but when brought up Palestinians his reaction was that it was a shame that there were any left.
Some of the same Americans who refuse to call the genocide in Gaza a genocide, and defend US support of Israel on the grounds that Israel is a "bastion of democracy" have no problem calling America "authoritarian." Think about that.
This Islamophobic bullshit comes up every time Americans want to bomb a middle Eastern country.
"We need to liberate their women/gays/whoever" - meanwhile, America put the fundamentalists in charge half the time. And the US pushes bigotry at home and abroad constantly.
"Protect (women, children, nature, international law, etc...)" in American discourse always means "protect rich white American males' ownership of (women, children, nature, international law, etc...)"
Look at the open joking about trying to pick up young female Ukrainian war refugees.
As someone from Gaza, let me tell you straight up we don’t need anyone making up fake characters just to justify killing us. No Palestinian I don’t care if they’re gay, disabled, religious, whatever would ever support wiping out their own people. That’s not “complex,” that’s just bullshit.
Nah, it’s not complicated. It’s brutal. And it’s happening to real people. To us. And we’re still here. Still breathing. Still speaking. Even if the world tries to shut us up.
Imagine if Mexico bombed Texas because they didn’t like the governor would anyone in the U.S. say “yeah that’s fair”? Hell no. But when it’s Gaza, suddenly people get real quiet or start talking about how “complicated” it is
We’re the ones living this. We’re the ones digging our families out from under the rubble We’re not sitting in some comfy house across the ocean tweeting theories about war and pretending to be “neutral.”If you’re okay with what’s happening, just admit you support war don’t hide behind fake morality
Let people just admit it plainly: supporting the war means supporting the extermination of an entire people. There’s no need for the “if I were” games or fabricated scenarios that no one believes
No one truly believes that destroying Gaza and killing its children is a solution, nor is there a shred of
humanity that justifies wiping out entire cities based on political or ethnic affiliation. Yet sadly, some spin lies to cover these crimes under the guise of necessity or response
To be realistic, not a single lesbian woman in America can imagine Mexico indiscriminately
bombing Texas neighborhoods, nor an entire community being condemned to extermination because of a political dispute.
The difference is that Palestinians are deprived of their most basic rights, of international legal protection, and of any human empathy. Palestine is the declared
exception in a global system that overlooks the crimes of occupation.
Every attempt to justify or hide this reality is just a continuation of the original sins a genocide carried out shamelessly under the cover of silence and double standards.
This is not merely a political conflict but a systematic extermination and a complete denial of human rights. Anyone who participates in these lies is part of the continuation of this crime against humanity.
In a time when we are living through genocide, lying and distorting reality is a crime no less heinous than killing itself. The truth must be told, even if it’s shocking, because it’s the only thing that can save what remains of our humanity.
I guess it works to divert the conversation, because some will answer "Well we don't have it better here" or "well THEIR opponent isn't all nice and shiny" and now we have a discussion about who is the worst with minorities.
fascism + plausible deniability is totally the liberal way - the way that they're hardcore racist but pretend not to be, hardcore anti-poor and pretend not to be, hardcore imperialism but pretend not to be, etc
Considering that there are a few ... different such cases with fringe but loud representatives following this exact script, it's not that hard to fall far
The way it dovetails with "campus free speech" and alumni donors is darkly funny. It's almost the exact same dynamic, just with 12 ton bombs instead of riot cops
Everybody says they're against war, so they dress up being pro war under virtuous reasons usually. It's so they don't have to feel bad about ppl being killed by our bombs if they tell themselves some bigoted trope about Muslim culture.

What percentage of 30,503,301 people have you met?
Unfortunately, America’s customers love the taste of blood.
