We have a 10yo Subaru that suddenly won't pass state inspection until the exhaust system is replaced. Don't have a quote on the cost yet, but I'm not sure we'll be able to afford it now.
Trump should put his money where his amply sized mouth is and "eat" the tariffs himself. Why should our great businesses and beautiful consumers have to suffer when he can afford to pay more taxes?
I love my 2014 Subaru Outback. My son is looking for a car now after his Infiniti was totaled in an accident 3 months after he bought it. The case was just settled 3 years later, and he barely received enough for a decent down payment after lawyer and medical fees. Now, what?😡
I’m in the US and when my car was totaled (I was not at fault and the other driver admitted fault) - I had my money in three business days. Three years makes me think there is more to the story. My wife worked at a body shop, and claims are *usually* handled quickly.
Thanks for that, I was going to post something similar. The vast majority of auto insurance claims in the US are settled and paid in a matter of days. It’s when there are injuries and lawyers involved that things can drag out.
I actually saw a Subaru out in the wild covered in ****p stickers. I wanted to tell the owner they aren’t allowed to drive a Subaru with that kind of attitude, and Subaru wants their car back
When T**** was elected we were certain he would do his dumb tariffs so we evaluated our appliances & vehicles & purchased a new frig, microwave, and tv. All three needed to be replaced but would have spread out the purchases. T**** has to know he’s hurting us but hey, 68 billionaires need him more.
Meanwhile, ultra Luxury brands like Bentley, Rolls-Royce, and Aston Martin will get a tariff exemption. They aren’t even trying to hide the fact that this is a major tax hike on the middle class because they didn’t want their millionaire friends to pay the tariff tax.
Bought a Chevy a year ot two ago and its a good thing. Although assembled in the US it has 35% U.S./Canadian parts and 22% Mexican parts. Might not have been able to afford it with tariffs.
The idea of a car entirely made in the US is ludicrous and shows the lack of any knowledge. Just check where parts for the most popular Ford are made: Hungary, Japan, Germany - all over the place. Even though “Made in the US”.
I would still rather have a Subaru than drive a Nazimobile Tesla. Those pieces of shit are worse than any Subaru. I would rather eat shit than drive any of Elon Musk's turd sandwiches. Wholly piles of crap those are. I would rather listen to the sound of a flat four engine than look at a cybertruck.
Most definitely, over many years I have heard the horror stories of owning these vehicles.Sure, the horizontally opposed four and six cylinder engines afford a bit lower center of gravity, but at what cost. Catastrophic failures of engineering these are.Nazis at Volkswagen liked that design as well.
I don't really have any experience or opinion on Subaru as a car.
But mentioning Nazi Germany as an example of bad mechanical engineering is certainly curious...
Just one example: The original Beetle. I don't remember any one complaining about classic Mercedes as well.
Because through coercion or favor bribery, he has compromised every major news outlet. Is there a any major US news source that has NOT been compromised?
Go Subaru, thanks for not caving. Trump wants companies 2 eat the tariff effects. Why? So he can pretend that tariffs r good, & not make himself look totally incompetent & senile. Keep the cork in the bottle, haha. That'll never last, consumers aren't that stupid. Their pocketbook doesn't lie.
I'm hanging on to my 21 year old Subaru Forester for dear life (until I give up my drivers licence). It's still got great mileage and new tires, had scheduled maintenance, just needs a rear differential adjustment.
I traded in a Jeep Grand Cherokee when I bought the 2004 Subaru. Jeeps aren't as low to the ground, and they're not as safe in dodgy traffic situations.
Okay. You are correct. I should not have assumed that the man who owns things associated with Starlink doesn’t own this. I usually research such things.
even vehicles ‘assembled’ in the US are going to see price increases….people really need to research the golden age and take notice that in its decline it was realized many people fell into deeper poverty, the cost of living was up 25% & people just couldn’t spend enough to fund a government
Subaru was an expensive car when looked at buying but opted for a pre-owned FWD VW sports wagon
And I was not pleased with the Subaru doors in lightness
So as the world turns so does days of our life in raise goblet tariff prices
I love my Subaru. I don’t know what you’re saying about the doors. 🤔. And although I was planning on waiting to buy my outback onyx edition when Trump won I said let’s do it. 2024 out the door for $36000.
I rode in a Subaru twice
Different models
The doors seemed light as if they didn’t have any weight to them
The same goes for a Prius when I opened doors.
The people who drive their Subaru love them
It definitely is unique vehicle
That AWD needs necessary
They have extensive side-curtain air bag protection & door design that gives them the highest safety rating in the class… good resale retention, service records.
They have come a very long ways since the 80’s.
Part of what you feel is a well engineered door hinge.
My work is announcing a “reduction in workforce” and offering voluntary severance and then involuntary severance if not enough take it. In medical technology. All due to Trump, we were doing great before tariffs
True. What they like to call 'Golden" in an age is usually just Gilded.
Most gilding is so fragile that if you don't glue it down it will just blow away on the first zephyr.
I had Subaru on my list for possible next car. Now I have no list. My current one will be driven into the dirt and we will see if I get another one, won’t be new I know I won’t be able to afford it. Prices will not come down after being raised.
You can still get by with getting an American assembled Subaru, but a certain percentage of the parts are imported from Mexico and Japan... now the Subarus that are completely from Japan is a different story.
I did to. From Subaru to another brand new 2025 Subaru🤣 My sales person customers were reserving Subarus before they arrive to the dealership. Subaru owners knew what was about to happen. All Foresters are all import from Gunma, Japan. Outback are made in Indiana using Chinese microchip.
I bet this is just another way they'll raise prices on us and not bring them down. You'd have to show how it affects everything in your business to be truly transparent.
I spoke to a local vodka distillery, vodka made from Italian wheat. It’s made in Florida but he said the labels & other things come from other countries. A restaurant could buy imported wine, cheese. Transportation will cost more money bc they have fewer wines to distribute, etc.
Exactly this, was explaining this to a Trump supporting Brexiter yesterday, the tariff becomes part of the cost of goods, and will be passed on as part of the total
Price+markup every step of the supply chain. More complex the finished material, higher the total finished price.
Restaurants use vendors who source ingredients from other places, which is often imported depending on what it is. So the vendor increases their prices, therefore the restaurant has to as well. So it could be completely true they were impacted.
That’s something to keep in mind.. a business might know how much tariffs cost them on things they import directly, but maybe not how much tariffs are impacting the prices of things they buy from other companies who in turn import raw materials or whatever. (Continued…)
We’ll have to visit Subaru showrooms and ask, “What “market conditions” would those be and when did they appear on the fiscal horizon?” 🤔 Please elaborate!
I knew a woman who imported some leather boots from Italy, unaware that there was a tariff on leather footwear. She was shocked when she received a huge bill from Customs.
We will hear many, more stories like this with Trump tariffs.
Nixon was the only President to not receive a state funeral. He didn't want one. Because it was entirely private there were no protesters at the actual funeral.
DJT is too egotistical to defer the state funeral.
If you read the article this took place at their number one supplier and their parts probably made it into your vehicle too. Its one of many reasons that the US should keep manufacturing in country as much as possible.

Why is Trump’s administration ignoring
Court Orders?
Solution: Courts need to find him in Open Sedition for failing to follow the constitution!
Problem: Republicans Congressional Majority and The DOJ love power more than our our civil liberties!
#TrumpOpenSedition
Maybe Subaru will be on trumps watch list to be sure they eat the tariff cost .. in other words pay the tariff cost so customers aren’t paying.. just like Walmart is being made to do by dictator🤣
I hope that every company that is impacted by DT tariffs will publicly notify their customers why.
That being said, i hope that companies not directly impacted by the tariffs will refrain from raising prices just bc they can blame it on tariffs as they did during Covid!
Yeah. “It’s Biden’s economy”. That’s the Republicans’ latest talking point. They must’ve all agreed on it after their last Satanic ritual meeting as I’ve been hearing many of them barf that out on Fox Propaganda.
What's fucked up is Biden was truly handed a fucked up situation and fixed it over his term. But they blamed him day 1 for the COVID catastrophe. trump handed the best economy in the world and he fucks it up day 1 and blamed Biden.
Same thing with Obama, a fundamentally strong economy that by the end of trump's 1st term looked like a wasteland. Obama inherited a raging disaster recession and cries of must bail out this and that cause they're too big to fail. In hindsight, he should've just let them fail.
Is that the same guy who threatened to lynch a black congresswoman because Trump was an arse to the widow of a fallen soldier and she called him out on it?
Notice he says republicans and democrats. No, it's not. The three presidents that raised the debt the most are Abraham Lincoln (he was fighting a civil war), George W. Bush (created a war out of thin air) and Donald Trump (reduced tax revenue by cutting taxes for the rich). He is set to be worse.
Donald Trump wants to attack the hell out of the American people that motherfucker why doesn’t he die of a heart attack and no goddamn parade either you shit
I went to the auto show and decided that I wanted the new Subaru. This was January. I guess I’m gonna stick it out in my old car for another year or two.
This isn't fair to toddlers.I take care of a toddler several times a week. Usually she's like a ray of sunshine, but sometimes the sulky side shows up. When it does, I can pick her up and take her to time out or wherever she needs to be. She has boundaries and is learning to respect the rules. 1/2
2/2 trump has no boundaries and no respect for rules. My granddaughter wants to be a decent human being; trump has no desire to be a decent anything. My granddaughter can learn; trump can't. trump isn't like a toddler. He's more like a viscious rat or poisonous snake, unable to learn to be better.
We, citizens, anticipated the increase in vehicle. Everything is going to cost them more, they are manufactured in both Japan and the US, Camden NJ. The automotive plant in Indiana. However, these plants utilize the parts, engines and transmissions from Japan. https://www.subaru.com/vehicle-info/articles/where-is-subaru-made.html

I wonder how many companies will just raise prices without saying anything, hoping that consumers don't notice?
🎶"Cadillacs, Lincolns too, Mercurys and Subarus"🎶
Glad I did now.
Subaru doesn't even make good cars
But you know that junk can be expensive.
But mentioning Nazi Germany as an example of bad mechanical engineering is certainly curious...
Just one example: The original Beetle. I don't remember any one complaining about classic Mercedes as well.
He’s destroying everything.
Massive blow to Trump as Japanese car giant moves manufacturing OUT of US in tariff twist
For Subaru, it’s cheaper to build and ship cars out of Japan than deal with the political whiplash of US trade policy
The company sold over 17k American-built vehicles in Canada last year
Wouldn't buy another one if they paid ME to take it.
Also, what TF did people think was gonna happen? Companies just roll over and swallow lost profits? No. They're gonna pass that right along to buyers
That actually made me laugh.
They are not related.
It’s also been around longer than Elon’s.
Goal: US Importers Buy Less From Abroad; More From Domestic Producers.
Theory: Leverage To Protect Domestic Industries/Push For Trade Concessions.
BUT, If No Domestic Substitute, Importers Must Keep Buying-At Higher Prices They Pass On To US Consumers!

I drove her girls to school so they could sleep late & not have to spend hours on a school bus~
When the weather was bad, I left my bigger Chevy at their house & took the Subaru~ cause it was almost impossible to get it stuck…

Thanks Grampa Golf.
Love your screen name. I was AbbeyNormal on Twitter.

Tariffs are a tax on things entering the country. If you don't pay the tariff, it does not get past customs.
We will hear many, more stories like this with Trump tariffs.

It's not going to turn out well.

Research before you buy!
Trump owns this mess.
But he definitely has a point: I’m definitely afraid that 🍊 might be successful with what he is doing.
Yes, yes, it is.. 🙄
Truth social in 3..2..1…
But DAMN that is an ugly mug.
Just not for us.
