ADHD assessment in two hours. I'm so nervous man. I have no clue what to say. And I'm mostly worried about not being able to remember anything that's been bugging me just because I'm so anxious.

You'd think I'd feel a sense of accomplishment for pushing through and getting the diagnosis but somehow it feels a bit...anticlimactic. And it's not like it undoes all those years I failed at school / college so in many ways I'm still just a big ol' disappointment

I don't mean to be a downer, I am happy I'm diagnosed now! I just don't know what to feel rn, it's kind of a mix of "I'm glad I'm not stupid after all" and "I wish I had known sooner"

It's perfectly valid to be unsure of how to feel, especially when you look back and reflect on how many people treated you unfairly or believed certain things about you,and now you might be reframing a lot of things about your life

Yep! But hey that's not your fault you didn't know sooner. The system for getting information that ADHD even exists and what it looks like and how to get diagnosed is silly and cryptic.

Tbh I actually asked my parents what they thought about ADHD because I heard about it from somewhere (I was 13 back then) but they said it wasn't "a real thing" and that nothing is wrong with me, that I just need to apply myself and not be so lazy. Took me years to reconsider I might have ADHD

Congrats on the diagnosis, I hope what they gave you helps. My wife was given an extended release adderall that helped for a while, but I think her diagnosis was different. Anyway, best of luck!

Thats how i felt when i finaly got diagnosed with depression and now i can acctualy wake up and get stuff i want to do done. I hope your able to keep moving forward and get the right dosage you need. If 80mg is tomuch dont be afraid to ask your doctor to try a smaller dose.

He asked me a bunch of stuff in detail about my attention span and all that and when he read out "do you talk too much-" he cut himself off and said "I can answer that one for you" 😂

Hope it goes well! I used to be on Concerta but unfortunately it made me freak out a lot, so I'm on Strattera now which doesn't do that!

Good luck. I hope it works for you. I had to use elvanse because concerta had some bad side effects. Sadly it's generally more damaging long term as well but if it works, it works
