While FF9 will always be the FF that means the most to me, X-2 is, depending on the day, in my top 3. It's been great to see this game get a reevaluation - I remember getting a tiny bit made fun of for liking it back as a kid!

I've been playing it for the first time for the show and so far have come to the opposite conclusion lol. There's a lot I like but I have a big issue with it's pacing both in terms of gameplay and how it tells its story. Ill save more of my thoughts for the episode but it's been a rough playthrough.

X-2 may have the best version of the ATB system Square ever put into a FF game, it's a great time in that regard.

yeah, i didn’t get them all in ffx either, but i’d tried pretty hard, and i was *well and fully over* the strategy-guide-ificiation of games at that point. x-2 starting by making it clear it would be at least that bad made me instabail 😅

my personal well was already poisoned by a friend erroneously telling me x-1 had a “good” ending you needed to 100% the game to see (and whenever i tell people this, they all pipe up to say i’m thinking of x-2–but x-2 wasn’t out yet, my buddy was just sending me on a wild good chase)

It's really a fun time and a great combat system. The dress spheres and garment grids make for a lot of customization and different approaches to battles
