I've heard bluesky also trusts clients to generate the preview for links so if you know what you are doing you can supply a fake image and title and blurb for a url to a site (like a new site) to make it look legit...

But I'd note that the app is supposed to show the time it was really posted with an archived badge showing the claimed date. Not sure what went wrong with this one.

You can send any date to them and it will register. That's what they meant with "decided by the client". The "server", the side that manages to store the data, can receive a date from the client, which can be any date, apparently.

It's also just necessary if Bsky is serious about being decentralized. You have to assume parts of the network won't always be connected, and replies would get all screwed up if each service had its own timestamp

yeah i was using com.atproto.repo.createRecord but when i set createdAt it says my posts are archived and shows the actual time they were posted, not the createdAt time
