The ones over my house were late at night so doubt they would deploy drones in the dark. Also there are sightings across all of Staten Island the past few nights including the military base and several over the Verrazano bridge - ThreadSky

If I were to guess, it'll probably turn out to be something very mundane, a prank with off the shelf drones, maybe spy drones. It will not be aliens, and it will at most be novel applications of common tech.
