If they kowtow to Trump because they are concerned about how Trump might react/punish them/ etc., they have failed not only in their responsibilities as journalists, but as people.

British journalists have no skin in the game at all and nothing will happen to them. It doesn't take an ounce of courage to be them.
The point remains: it is exactly that "skin in the game" that makes the NYT's position...
It's that someone whose name implies they want to be a "good person" would be some comfortable...
