Hadn't talked to a friend in 3 years. Their car broke down in a bad part of the city. I was there in 20 minutes. Meanwhile I've lost other friends because they thought, "Huh... We haven't talked in 2 weeks. Welp, that's the end of that, I guess."
Yeah... And also I feel like messaging first or even messaging too much will annoy them, since I had multiple instances of friends telling me that I am too pushy and needy
Me to all my friends basically telling them it's okay, life happens and being an adult sucks. It makes it even more precious when we are able to share some time together and have a laugh or chat c:
I had a 'friend' when I was very young who would keep a running tab on our friendship day to day. I had enough problem with all the other crazy things I did. If he was going to judge me like this, he wasn't going to be my friend for long.
Its been like 10 years and I have no realistic hope of ever connecting again with some people but if I see them its hug on sight. Like 60% of my shower thoughts are wondering where old friends are and how they are doing.
I love that you put words to something that still haunts me to this day. I know logically it's silly, but emotionally it's just... dang. Thank you. Love that.

I once had a 'friend' that basically practiced friendship decay as a principle. She was exhausting to just be around, and even guilt tripped people if they didn't acknowledge her birthday. ...We're not friends anymore 😅
(She was a grown-ass adult too! You'd think reality would bite eventually)

My friends need to, and do understand, I might not actively seek out a conversation for years, but I'll be there if they need me.
They must be busy right?
