It works, right? Last time they had around 2'000 deaths missing for many months and nobody noticed. No explanation ever came forth, as far as I know.

But what exactly is 'it'?
Some intricate trial to test how far statistics can be faked? IMHO, way too much work for a result nearly nobody notices.

Apart from conspiracy theories, I suspect an error nobody is ready to acknowledge.

Which is just the opposite of scientific honesty.
