But what exactly is 'it'?
Some intricate trial to test how far statistics can be faked? IMHO, way too much work for a result nearly nobody notices.
Apart from conspiracy theories, I suspect an error nobody is ready to acknowledge.
Which is just the opposite of scientific honesty.
But I concur: No bad intention. Just inability or unwillingness to correct an error.
