What's especially sad and aggravating about this race to the tax bottom is that this is an election where the Liberals and NDP could make an argument for taxes as a patriotic duty. We need to tax the wealthy to be strong and protect our country from rich assholes who are trying to take it from us.

Anti-tax pushes are conservative, they play into conservative ideas and make these ideas more palatable to the electorate.
This yay Canada, yay taxes stuff writes itself, but the Liberals are ignoring it in favour of the conservative, anti-tax playbook and it blows.
"Middle-class Canadians are paying more to buy local, meanwhile you're worth millions and you're not willing to do your part?"
Enough with their very public charitable donations- if they paid their taxes, we would not need charity for hospital equipment.
This is not a difficult concept.
Make a tax policy that is designed to minimize inequality and have the political gumption to sick with it.
