Yes! I got put on nazi lists & the weirdest one is the alt text bullying.
For one, it's ableist. Yes I would love to have the energy & no brain fog to accommodate others, but I'm lucky to just get in some participation.
Second, I will never add alt text to my personal photos, I will not train AI.

Same. I notice a lot of the alt text police actually do not need to use alt text and are just speaking for people who didn’t ask them too. In fact, a lot of sight-limited people say they themselves get alt text policed even though they find it very difficult to write up alt text.

Go to settings -> Tap Accessibility -> Toggle on Require Alt Text before posting & you will get a reminder with every image 😊

Someone else will probably give you a more informed answer, but fwiw I think text when it’s in an image format, (like a screen grab or a meme), can’t be read by assistive devices. So I think that’s the purpose of redoing photos of text, into alt text. (Pls. do correct me if I’ve got this wrong.)

I don’t know if this will be helpful to anyone else, but I often use voice transcription, when there’s a lot of text. Even with all the corrections I need to make whenever I use voice transcription, it’s still faster than typing on a phone. This has made all text a lot easier to get done, for me.

That’s great to know. I’ll see if I can do that on any of them. So far, no can do, but now I’ll look further into that possibility! (iPhone, currently. Though by the time I need a new phone — should be years, yet — will have to choose the least fascist-supporting option I can find.)
