The Tories didn't "liberalise" immigration. It's nonsense. They brought in ever higher wage requirements for work visas. The reason for the rise is Brexit. Because workers from outside Europe understandably bring their families.

They may not have meant to, but they sort of did. Just a very odd way of putting it. Just because they did a firefighting/performative thing it doesn’t counter the failure of falling out with & having no say in/over your own continent?
I am not sure why you’re disappointed. The point is not the politics of blaming the Tories used by Starmer, rather that Brexit was a policy change that is been held to account for immigration failure.
I agree he is blaming the Tory execution, and policy change, however he is also blaming Brexit because it failed on migration. It’s a clever statement because it recognises both sides of this debate and holds the Tories to account. Ideology got us into this mess and is not going to get us out of it.
