There is no more Canada/US. North American Free Trade as we knew it is dead. It starts with the auto industry and continues until there is no longer strength or strategy in any alliance with the US. No one wants to negotiate with a man/country who doesn’t respect his own signature. Ie CUSMA 🇨🇦

You have it wrong. This is Trump attempting to isolate the US market from foreign competitors. That doesn't preclude US production companies from targeting other markets or even making movies outside the US. This is about controlling access to the US market for, as stated 'messaging and propaganda'.

That may be what he's trying to do, but it will all backfire. The American film industry only became so big because it bought up the distribution rights everywhere after WW2. Before that, it was just one of many. It'll now revert to that. Many FX firms have already moved elsewhere.

Movie production isn't bound by the nation. They can be produced and shot anywhere. The reason this will backfire is that movies exhibited in the US typically get assembled from parts produced all over the world. There is no tariff regimes that would escape movies even using mostly US production.

So, if Hollywood no longer needs the US to make or watch their movies, they just might take their business elsewhere—especially if censorship is in our near future. The US has gradually become less relevant/necessary and the Trump tariffs are forcing the issue.
