Appalling. Why is it always the right wing that seems to think that this kind of behavior is justifiable?! I suspect dogmatism is at the root of it. Dogmatism lends itself to rigidity and inflexibility. The lack of which makes Dem's more flexible but also makes them appear more indecisive.

I think those qualities can be a result of a dogmatic, rigid view of the world. As I see it, people who score high on dogmatism do not usually entertain the idea that their views could be inaccurate. They therefore, feel that their dominance and intimidation are utterly justifiable.

Very interesting (and horrifying). Can people become dogmatic as they are radicalized? Like, they weren’t dogmatic about their old beliefs but as they develop new beliefs they also develop a dogmatism about them?

@danielleloveswords.bsky.social has asked a fascinating question. Yes, a person can become dogmatic as an adult but it is more likely that those individuals had a latent tendency toward dogmatism. I tend to think of it as more of a developmental issue.
