I am particularly fond of the film adaptation of James Ellroy's L.A. Confidential. Very effectively trims the fat from the book, while Russell Crowe's casting as Bud White is a masterstroke

I agree with LA Confidential! Keeping with the Russell Crowe theme, the adaptation of two O'Brian novels to become Master and Commander was also very effective. Crowe and Paul Bettany really brought Aubrey and Maturin to life for me! For all love!

Tough choice but actually I think Silence of the Lambs really captured everything that was great in the book. Mainly thanks to Foster and Hopkins, but the entire cast was perfection.
