...so after the latest Deltarune chapters, can we all just agree that all the "Tobycore" talk in the fandom was toxic and elitist and ultimately didn't help anyone?

Basically the idea that Toby Fox is a terrible artist, so your fan project HAS to look ugly in the exact same way or else you're doing it wrong and are a bad artist
"Tobycore" was basically this label used to brand fanworks as "true" to Toby's style/vision/etc, while mocking those that deviated by preset ideas of what's faithful to Toby's approach to art, music, and storytelling.
toby core is funny to me because it only really seems like it's used when things are "too good", and ignores how Toby is really great with character expressions, great at setting atmosphere, great at setting expectations with visuals, etc
his mind is an enigma and anyone's effort to claim anyone else is good/bad at "replicating" it is completely foolish. i hope tenna's introduction in ch3 was the gut punch those people needed to knock that kind of talk off lol NONE OF US could have expected that
The idea that anything Toby makes/is a part of making needs to look bad is just... Entirely unfounded. Like look at QC's shop? Literally all of Waterfall? CORE? Undertale was genuinely beautiful, which is why it did so well. The beauty of that game was one of its biggest selling points.
