No, only the King of The United Kingdom is allowed to *eat* swans. He's not allowed to own any black swans though as they're a protected species in Australia (and as he's King of Australia, he's bound by our Constitution). He's allowed to own/eat white swans, but only on a certain stretch of river.
Wait, the french word for Swan is Cygne and babies are cygnet, is a baby swan in english also a cygnet? Usually only animals used for meat are the same in english/french (porc/pork, bœuf/beef etc)…you dont eat baby swans do you!?
What a beautiful sight. We have 2 white Swan families on our towns lake. They've nested & raised their 2-4 babies every year for the past 4 or five years. They are so sweet, trusting & fiercely protective. One of life's many joys..
Black swans are indigenous to Western Australia. But you’ll find them in other places if they’ve been introduced (I saw a couple on a lake in Latvia just last week)
Beautiful photo! I like photos that capture the serene side of nature. On a recent trip to Zambia, we encountered a troop of Chacma Baboons with a female carrying her youngster.
