Not to be That Guy but philosophically, I think genre emulation needs to not exclusively pull from The Iconic Episodes. You gotta dig deep in there and watch the ones nobody likes or thinks are Just Fine and emulate those too, because that's part of the show.
I often see people be like "what matches should I show someone to get into wrestling" and that's--that's wrong. You just put on wrestling, the soonest wrestling show that's airing. If they're gonna be Into Wrestling, then they need to experience Wrestling as it is! Same with this stuff.
* The one where Data is legally declared human
* The one where that mute guy has 3 helpers who translate for him but then they all die
* Any episode where Worf takes Picard to Klingonland
* The one where Riker finds out he has a clone
* The one where Moriaraty becomes real (again)
Tanakta, where the walls fell. Kirk and Jalak, or whichever the proper name is. In my ocd experience the most referenced episode after 🤔 Picard's four lights episode.
There is a phenomenal sci fi book named Hellspark. Similar concept. A galatic interpreter is called in to attempt to communicate with a newfound species. As an exercise she says the word hellspark as hell's park and hell spark alternatively to maintain nueral flexibility. 👍🏽
