The most salient critique of AFFH remains: It never really did anything! It was a book report exercise. Staunch conservatives used to say Mike Lee was a smart guy. DeSantis and Abbott are pretty Trumpian but at least they passed some good housing stuff. Lee's just completely melted by smartphone addiction and falling down one rabbit hole after another.

No, we're agreeing here. It has little to nothing to do with the actual AFFH rule that actually existed in reality. The AFFH rule is just a convenient wedge to prevent future Fair Housing regulations and kill existing/potential mechanisms of Fair Housing Act enforcement.
