I haven’t seen lily of the valley in many years. Growing up in the Midwest a neighbor had them all along the north side of her house. They were beautiful.
White choral bells, upon a slender stalk.
Lillies of the valley guard my garden walk.
“Oh don’t you wish that you could hear them ring?”
That will only happen when the Fairies sing!
Lily of the valley & lilacs were my mother's favorite flowers, she always had them in our yard. I've been in CA for decades, right now near the Pacific & can't grow them. 🥺 So thanks for this.
I have no idea, I made the mistake of planting a few in the front flower bed, it took 2 summers to finally get rid of them. It spread fast and far! lol
Fun facts: lily of the valley is very toxic to pretty much everyone so don't keep them if you have plant munching pets or children. Lily of the valley loves acidic soils, so it's a great choice for filling garden space under pine trees where the shed needles make the soil too acidic for most plants.
When I lived in Germany, my rental home had a garden full of hydrangea bushes, lily of the valley, lupin, & tulip bulbs. The blooming was beautiful, fragrant, colorful, and such a delight to come home to.
I planted them as bare roots two years ago. Only got leaves last year so this is the first time they are blooming. Nothing difficult in pot, just don’t let them dry out 😂
So lovely 💚
We had it growing under an old tree in our front yard in W. Pennsylvania. When we sold the house, the new owners took out every speck of green, including the beautiful, years old lilly of the valley. Why??🥺
People from abroad often mention how much they love the English words "lily of the valley"and "ladybug". :) They're so poetic. In German lily of the valley is called Maiglöckchen which means "little bells of May".

My island was somehow completely fine after a year. Not a single weed grew. It took a week of playing for weeds to start growing. I have no clue how that happened other than a glitch but it was great.

Smells divine 🪷
DID YOU KNOW….
It is on the Top 10 List of the World’s Most Poisonous Plants?
Every part of the Lily of the Valley plant is toxic to both humans and animals.
Don’t plant in the ground. You will never get rid of it.

5 came up. (So far) I have hopes.
My grandmother had a whole flower bed of them.
