There's no fascism without a social base. Fascist leaders always seek popular support in order to enact their own will. That's how Trump got his Jan 6th instead of him doing himself the dirty work.
Democrats saw how popular Trump was while he was being completely fucking braindead and over the top racist and wanted in on that action, and until they admit that and make REAL changes they're just going to lose again and again.
They think that Trump being an asshole was what attracted voters, rather than him promising to change things. Yes, he's changing them in a horrifically wrong direction, but that's still change. The status quo is terrible, and people are desperate for something else.
That's been true for decades, and mostly, Democrats have ignored it, instead promising to simply patch up a few cracks in a status quo that needs a complete overhaul. And thus they've struggled to get a simple trifecta, let alone enough to get anything done.
And then every time they get a trifecta there's people they invited into their big tent that are just fascists hiding out in the Democratic party because they live in places Republicans can't win. The Democratic leaderships loves that arrangement because it means they don't have to do anything.
Yep. And the one time this century that they ran a candidate who promised substantive change, he got elected and gave the Democrats a huge majority...which he pissed away by folding at the first sign of even slight resistance, and obsessing over "bipartisanship".
I’m 46 and Biden govern to the left of any President in my adult life. Other then Gaza, universal health care, and looking to tear down and replace institutions like Trump was there a policy based ideological shift that could have been made?

The Democratic Party exists solely to temper progressive sentiment in America
