Most in senior care, like ACLFs, Skilled Nursing ALFs, Hospice Care Facilities and others would have to be placed in the streets. Most are estranged from distant family members, have outlived most family and friends or the families are in poverty. No one will come for them.

It covers a far wider swath of people than most imagine. I bet they don't realize that their great aunt in the nursing home, their elderly neighbor who lives with his children, their disabled nephew, their pregnant daughter who works full time are all covered by Medicaid.

A 2-bed room in a nursing home costs $11,000 a month—or more! Only wealthy families can pay that much for longer than a couple of years. Medicaid allows those with long-term illnesses like Alzheimer’s dignified care most families cannot take on.

Everything you say here is true. Cutting Medicaid would also devastate rural hospitals and medical practices. I live in the 5th District in Kentucky, where 54% of people are enrolled in Medicaid. Hospitals, nursing homes, and medical practices would likely close without Medicaid.
