Since younger generations have never seen large epidemics of these diseases, they don’t appreciate the need for vaccines. Whooping cough can quickly kill infants since they have narrow airways. Mumps can cause infertility in males. Measles can lead to death as we have seen. Why gamble with this?
It angers me even more deeply because very often they themselves have been vaccinated. They choose this for their kids, while bring protected themselves.
Caring adults can get vaccinated or boosted. I got a Tdap booster right before my 1st grandchild was born bc I feared making them sick during the Pertussis outbreak in her area at the time. Medicare pays for it at least for now. I had whooping cough as a child and will never forget how awful it was.
