They are functionally different cards (iterative can't target itself) and have different names and so I would rule you can play them both :)

Actually, rules question about this - is 'stack or battlefield' considered one thing here, or two?

eg If I use the ability while a card is on the stack, and it then moves to the battlefield, does it reset, or does it stay as long as it's in no other zone beyond the stack and/or battlefield?

Gavin has the call on it, obviously, but from a Scryfall data standpoint I would consider them different cards. I do update 'oracle' text on reprints but there are some cases like Bear Force Pilot where I made a new card and then linked them with a card relationship to show they're roughly the same.
