Exactly. If someone reposts from a political account, I just block the repost, if it’s a person that is an artist of some sort that I want to follow.

Don't be hesitant in curating your own feed experience. Don't engage. Block ugliness unapologetically. Mute words, phrases, or users liberally. Follow users and feeds that feature cryptids or medieval art. Create yourself the community you want to spend time in.

I do curate my feed. Bluesky got a huge boost because people left Twitter because of politics and culture war.

When I feel like I'm seeing too much news, I go to one of the other feeds and follow some new people who post nature pictures or animals, or whatever gets my attention in the moment. Helps to dilute my following feed.

John posted about how the vibe here is changing. I offered the view that people are brining more politics here. Bluesky got a big surge because Twitter got to toxic. Twitter is basically politics and culture war.

People wanted to get away from that. But others brought with them.

Honestly, even if you do it temporarily: Turn off Reposts.

Quote Posts are more okay because they require a person to at least invest minimal effort, but blocking out everyone's low-effort, knee-jerk, "Look-AtThis-Horrible-Thing" Reposts has been a wild psyche-saver for me.

I use the word muting function; some places, politician's names, division-stirrers - they all get muted and just don't turn up in my feed. 👍
