Bird flu could potentially flare up into another devastating pandemic mostly because the orange moron we had running things during the last one is now back to make sure this one is just as bad.

Do you believe that just because the Trump administration mishandles a virus that the entire world will suddenly stop pasteurizing their milk? This’ll be an epidemic at worst.
You do realize that ppl TRAVEL right? That’s how epidemics (like in Wuhan China) become world wide pandemics (like COVID). Ppl refuse to wear masks and obey travel restrictions, yet you think it will STAY in the 🇺🇸? Not with Repubs &🍊🤡 in charge-they hate restrictions more than anyone, even 🍁MAGATs.😞
There's a difference here: we see the bird flu coming, and there won't be a global appetite to tolerate much of the hesitancy that allowed COVID to spread.Meanwhile, the US seems to be rolling up its sleeves preparing to dismantle the infrastructure that would be tasked with dealing with this issue.
We see this fr different views, I think. I’m Canadian. We have free flow of ppl across our border, plus 🇺🇸travels a LOT. I got C19 by a 🇺🇸traveller fr outbreak in AZ who was supposed to be quarantined but believed 🍊🤡it was fake. 1 infected person is all it takes. Other countries can’t stop travel.
I’m Canadian too, and I remember how we closed our borders for a time for tourism. I also remember how we handled SARS. It’ll be harder to keep out of Canada than for other countries, but my point is that it is not guaranteed to become a *pan*demic. Far from it.
Granted, bird flu can spread through more than just milk, and getting a large enough population infected could easily cause a chain. Though at the same time "Just" an Epidemic isn't exactly that much better.
That's a fair point. I just assume the pandemic comment was more just looking at the bird flu problem as potentially becoming the new COVID and being anxious about such, esp. In the likelihood that politicians fail to take proper precautions to emphasize economic gain over public safety.

However, I’ll take “putting 400 million people at risk” over “ putting 8 billion people at risk “ every day of the year.
