To be clear, though, it’s primarily men in positions of wider authority that seem most supportive of the current admin. A danger not to be underestimated.
Everyone who's been in the military knows his type. He's someone who couldn't cut it in command, but was promoted to Major due to time served and moved out of command position so he couldn't do damage. The incompetent Major promoted beyond his competence level is like an archetype in the military.
They are currently disassembling the Army Reserve Aviation division for the entire United States. Thousands of civilian jobs and hundreds of AGR NCOs and Officers will be jobless…it’s affecting the lives of soldiers and their families. Are we great yet 😥
He is destroying morale and mission readiness, compromising national security and abandoning active duty troops, retirees and veterans. Never should have made it beyond sweeping the sunshine off the mess hall sidewalk. In Vietnam, the draftees would have fragged him.
Interestingly enough, I know the captain the photo. He was in my youth group after I retired from the Marine Corps, and I can say, he’s not fond of Hegseth or his political kin.
So for what purpose gang bangers wear the gang's logo with tattoos? These guys are on active duty, they don't do social media. Have no clue what going on. There is no Red nor Blue issue. The only ones have resentments in the Armed Forces are the transgender. (Semper Fi) is a strong bonding agent.
Obvious how hard Kegseth is trying to build awkward relationships with soldiers who have no interest in same. Who's gonna tell him that respect is earned?
Is it true that we have lost 4 - or is it 5 - fighter jets off US aircraft carriers since Trump took office in January? Any cause/effect that Hegseth is now Defense Secretary and/or they have been firing Navy (particularly women) leaders left and right?
I mean, he’s an O-4 National Guard. Who fired four star generals. Respect for hierarchy is all but drilled into the heads of members of the army. So, it makes sense that they fundamentally do not fuck with alcoholic jackasses.
From the members of the Navy and Marines that I know, they see their jobs as a noble and solemn duty. Those I know don’t vote for Trump, but they do speak to a very active delineation from civilian views. Hegseth is the embodiment of army enlistment guys.
“If you are left leaning, Hegseth only serves to poke at and antagonize you. If you are right leaning, he only serves to embarrass and demoralize you with his incompetence,”
If they are “buying it” they are telling the world we are not capable of managing our own military. This “leadership” is an open invitation to other countries to test us and see just how bad it’s gotten.
The whole MAGA aesthetic is grounded in spectacle, like so-called "reality TV." It's based on the same curating practices (i.e. editing), brand promotion, distortion of reality. Neil Postman called it in the 80s when he said we'd one day blur fantasy with reality & be unable to tell the difference.
Hopefully, someone is reminding troops that they have a constitutional requirement to ignore illegal orders or commands that will make them do something in violation of the constitution.
“If you are left leaning, Hegseth only serves to poke at and antagonize you. If you are right leaning, he only serves to embarrass and demoralize you with his incompetence"
"When leadership prioritizes optics over outcomes, photos over plumbing, troops notice. When DoD leadership talks about 'lethality' but ignores that soldiers are getting sick from their own living conditions, credibility suffers"
"When a recently deployed unit returned to Fort Johnson, their cards had lapsed and they were met with signs that said they would be turned away if their cards weren't fixed."
"Across military Reddit forums and enlisted meme pages, Hegseth has become a regular target of satire, often referred to with nicknames such as 'DUI Hire', 'Whiskey Leaks' and 'Kegseth'."
The ultimate decision on whether our Military are buying it or not is whether they uphold their Oath to protect the United States of America against enemies foreign and Domestic or, if they claim they were just follow in orders.
…”several service members told https://Military.com they feel Hegseth's idea of what a defense secretary is expected to do doesn't line up with what the job actually requires of him.” This is because he’s no better than a media whore like Dump.
Hegseth doesn’t seem to understand the difference between the point of the spear (Special Forces) and the whole spear and the arm that throws it (Sec DOD).
I read this a few days ago and it reminded me of all the lessons history teaches about the critical advantages of a strong military: well-resourced, well-fed, healthy troops, lead by meticulous planners is the competitive advantage. + The mistake of falling for your own propaganda can be fatal.
When William the Conqueror left France in 1066, he had planned down to the weights & measures of how much poo his army of horses would generate on his ships. Hegseth can only plan as far as how he looks on camera. Greatness is not measured in camera angles; it’s measured in pounds of manure.
Very telling. Indicates he likely wasn’t accepted while employed and trying to fill that void. We need a leader, not a mentally deranged person craving affection and alcohol.
Pretty arm-pictures boy seems very keen to be seen and to talk tough. Classic behaviour for a wannabe outsider. Insiders and tough guys let their skills, actions and results tell the story.
This point is crucial to defuse all the "Trump's gonna declare martial law... mumble mumble cancel elections... mumble mumble turn the troops on the American people," scenarios.
Hard to convince the military to violate the Constitution once you've lost the military's respect.
I can find no record of Hegseth doing any warfighting. He was a guard at Guantanamo and had a succession of office jobs (a couple in combat zones). Only promoted to Major just before leaving the National Guard, and considered a security risk due to white nationalist tattoos
I certainly hope they aren't buying it - he seems to be going out of his way to put them in harms way, to show how inept our military is, and to weaken our forces to someone else's standards.
I read this last week, I’m sure that a lot of troops see his stunts and how pathetic they are. He is a national security threat and Trump and republicans not replacing him is unforgivable. Troops lives are in danger under him.
Hogsbreath is a cartoony booze brain. Don't know if he's always been a moron but with incompetence like his and his lack of self awareness, I'd say he's suffering "Wet Brain" symptoms (usually common in much older alcoholics).
Plus he's a REAL LOSER.
At least DEI requires actual qualifications.
I'm no expert, but as an American, I always perceived the top "brass" and leaders of our military as not only well respected, but 'Trusted Defenders of Democracy' and our Great Country.
It’s all cosplay with him—he likes to think he’s one of the “warriors” but that not his job now. His job is to provide civilian oversight of the warriors. He also seems to have forgotten there’s more to DoD than the Army. We also have a Navy, a Marine Corps, an Air Force and a Space Force
Anyone who has a security clearance has to be horrified by his behavior and lack of consequences bc they know that they are still held to a higher standard. He has no leadership skills at all.

Yes, I know that's a generalization, but there are both social and psychological reasons that those units are "deep red" in their politics
He's a fake wannabe and a drunk...
They must work their way down the ranks firing officers, to prevent them from turning on them. That says it all.

I'm just not feeling it here...
Bend Over Here It Comes Again.
And I was last century, too!
“We don't need burdensome rules of engagement”
Not sure I'd be happy knowing someone i loved was serving under that attitude.
